EVENT Perspectives 169: Odili Donald Odita
WEBSITE www.camh.org
BEGIN 2/12/2010
END 5/2/2010
LOCATION Contemporary Arts Museum, 5216 Montrose
NOTES Widely recognized for his pulsating hues and meticulously painted wall and canvas works, Odili Donald Odita creates paintings that often function as narratives. Although devoid of any discernable figurative marks, the works tell of the nomadic journey of our ever-shifting global society: shapes and intersecting lines become metaphors for time and place while color evokes mood and impulse.

EVENT Leaps into the Void: Documents of Nouveau Réalist Performance
WEBSITE www.menil.org
BEGIN 3/19/2010
END 8/8/2010
LOCATION Menil Collection, 1515 Sul Ross
NOTES The show will provide a unique chance to highlight the temporality of a lesser-known avant-garde movement. Actively engaged with other conceptual and performance-based ways of making art as they were emerging in the U.S. at that time, such as like Fluxus, Assemblage and Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme was a brief but influential moment in the history of modern art.

CATEGORY Museums
EVENT Steve Wolfe on Paper
WEBSITE www.menil.org
BEGIN 4/2/2010
END 10/31/2010
LOCATION Menil Collection, 1515 Sul Ross
NOTES This exhibition will focus on the artist’s works on paper, some of which are purely drawn, but most of which combine aspects of drawing, collage and printmaking. The artist’s transformation of common objects requires the viewer to re-think what they mean as such, placing emphasis on craft and the handmade to transform the common into the uncanny and the sublime.
