" ... Houston has many talented people who want to help improve our City. I have been flooded with requests by people requesting to volunteer some time. These folks come from all walks of life ... Use of citizens to help the City professionals not only extends our abilities to deliver services, but also acquaints the citizenry with respect for the day-to-day task performed by City employees. Working along side a volunteer with a different life experience than a City employee can provide opportunities for mutual growth ... "
